Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive program Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. In the form of it is a Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the show. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first significant part. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
